Vikingaliv Stockholm

If you do not know much about Viking Age, it is best to start by visiting this museum. It's fun to go there both alone and with family. The visit ends with a train journey through a tale of Vikings.

Historical Museum

This museum shows Sweden's history through a time path. On June 24, 2021, the World of the Vikings was also opened - the world's largest Viking exhibition! At the center of the exhibition is the world tree Yggdrasil, which had a central role in the Vikings' worldview and mythology.

Medieval restaurant

In the Old Town, in the heart of Stockholm, you will find the medieval restaurant - Sjätte Tunnan. The dishes served come from cookbooks from the 14th - 16th century, in addition there are many different kinds of mead.

Viking restaurant

On Gamla Stan's main street you will find the famous Viking restaurant where you can see Vikings, eat dishes reminiscent of what was eaten during this time and listen to live music. Here there is plenty of mead with different flavors.

Souvenirs

If you want historical or find-based souvenirs from the Viking Age, you can visit this shop which is located on the same street as the Aifur restaurant. Here you will also find t-shirts, viking horns and other fun.

Runestone

Part of the runestone 

Runic inscription U 53 is built into the house node to a residential building. The stone measures one meter by half and it is damaged. It has been dated to around 1070-1100.

Viking city

Birka was one of the largest trading cities in Europe. The city does not exist today but there is a museum, a recreated Viking village and a contemporary restaurant. In addition, you can go on a guided tour where archaeologists tell about the time when Birka was a large city. 

A small Viking age village

Barely an hour's journey from central Stockholm, you reach a small Viking village where you can find real Vikings. Feel free to check out their website for opening hours and other info.

Viking antiquities and a museum

Near Uppsala you can find an old part of the city where the Vikings lived. The large burial mounds are especially famous. 

A large Viking age village

This is the largest and most beautiful Viking village in all of Sweden. During the summer you can go here to see different Viking houses and try different activities. See more info about opening hours etc. on the website.
